Sailing Instructions.
1. Yachts that get caught on the marina side of the course and
need to be physically rescued are immediately declared as a DNF.
2 Buoy contacts WILL be penalised and require a 360 turn to
exonerate the error. The exception to this is the SE buoy
which is considered too far to be rounded with accuracy because
of the light and conditions in which we sail. No penalty
is required if contact is made with this buoy. The buoy
MUST be rounded correctly and all other rules apply at the mark..
Beware the buoy near the wharf on the finish leg!!
3. The handicap scoring scheme has a gradation of handicap changes for the first and last
bunch of yachts removing the desire of skippers to hang back to
avoid getting a handicap change.

A funny day with WNW to 
start
with and plenty of power so Ben and Roger on 'B' rigs wasn't so
silly. We definitely suffered later as the breeze almost
completely died at the end of racing. Still it is always a
challenge to do well with the smaller rig as it is an advantage
in the stronger winds which swaps to a disadvantage as the winds
ease.

For some strange reason, 
Ben
and Richard thought braving the treacherous winds with gusts
over 40 knots causing Richard's hat to blow overboard and nearly
dislodging Ben from the wharf was going to be fun???? How
silly were they as the yachts nosedived and broached all over
the course. Ben had issues with water in his boat as it
became heavier and heavier to lift out. It ended up close
to half full not really surviving the last race. That was
enough so common sense prevailed. Meanwhile Bob who didn't
even bring a boat sat back and shook his head with disbelief.
Phil just pressed on seeing just how silly the two sailors could
get!
We had a presentation for the Friday series under shelter.
Ben one Richard 2 and Bob 3. The ongoing best sailor for
the year was also presented. Richard won this from Ben so
he had a great year. See below for details

Another Autumn wonderful day 
for
the first race of winter with
gentle Westerly winds swinging to the SW later. A very
pleasant day to start the Winter series. Autumn series
results below.

A very gentle day with winds
from
the SE below 10 knots but very pleasant conditions. Its
great to see some green on the club lawns again after the rain
we had last week. This was the last race for the 2024-25
series so results coming out next race day!

Gentle SSE winds and just the three sailors
and Phil. It was very close racing with little separating
the yachts.

A very pleasant day with gentle 
breezes
from the SSE to a max of 10 knots. Phil set a very
standard course and we went that way. Don again shone in
these lighter conditions and blitzed the fleet.

A quiet day - very slow start but
the breeze filled in a little later. Dennis had some good
races with the Focus he kindly set up for a visitor. We did
finish a little early to ensure our storage area in the GRYC
club was tidied after some unthinking or unknowing rearrangement
at a club working bee. Thanks to Richard et al for
labelling our bits. The club will also make clear labels
for the shelves.

Another day in paradise
with
gentle breezes and mid conditions with plenty of sunshine to
brighten the day. Wind from the SE made a good beat out to
the jetty buoy and a sedate run back to the Marina.
Everyone was up to speed so it was hard work making up any
distance for the rear but a most enjoyable day.

six sailors enjoying a SSE 8>10 knot breeze, Phil set a great
course (going that way) which turned out to be a port course,

Well it was touch and go
if it was 'B' or 'C' rig weather with 20-30 knot gusts from the
North. Phil set an inside port hand course (2
legs!!!) which suited the conditions and made it safer than
heading out towards the river. It was a great beat back
from the southerly buoy and many a race was won in that area as
the breeze kept up (C Rig weather) or it didn't (B Rig weather).
Just Ben and Bob sailed with 'C' Rigs.

A nice number of sails on the water
with a good 'A' rig weather to match the wonderful [port hand
course set by Phil. Racing was close all day and results
reflected this. Roger seems to have the edge in these
conditions with good boat speed and excellent pointing.
